When we think of Scorpio energy, what’s the first thing that comes to our mind? Sensuality, sexuality, death and rebirth, control, and intense, watery emotions. But there is something so devious and cunning about Scorpios, that usually sends those unsuspecting of Scorpio’s sting, running in the opposite direction. It is not that Scorpio’s are unkind, or even that they deserve the bad rep of being cold hearted and cunning, but the represent the part in all of us that we would rather ignore, wish away, or act as if did not exist.
Scorpio is all about the dark side. Our dark side that is and the shadow self that is composed of the darkest crevices of our psyche that we would prefer to conceal from the every day world. When we are born in to society, we only know from those around us what is right and what is wrong and of course that is subject to the specific society that we belong in. But what happens when the requirements of our society goes against in our inner desires? What happens when there is shame surrounding the things that make us tick?
Our sexual quirks? The things that our parental figures shamed us for? The things that we ourselves were never taught how to nurture and appreciate? The parts of ourselves and our beauty that society shamed us for? The part of us that developed hatred and fear in our heart and befriended those demons under the bed that only came to manifest as our inner voice years later? What then.
Well, then, we get a Scorpio native. We get somebody who is constantly wrestling what with they are allowed to show and what they have to keep buried within. And ofcourse, as a result of this, every perceived rejection or abandonment, is just that much more painful. Why? Because we already expected it. Scorpio is about the wounds that make us feel unlovable and the way that they drive love away from us.
If like myself, you’ve faced challenges in your childhood that you had to learn to keep to yourself, because you just did not know how to articulate them, or because it may make others see you differently, then you likely developed a shadow consciousness. The shadow consciousness does not exist so much beyond the surface as many would think, as it is often at the forefront of daily interactions, especially ones that require for us to be intimate and emotionally vulnerable.
This month may see the surface of some of your deepest rejection wounds. What are the things that you fear, specifically regarding sex and safety? Do you fear that it is not safe for you to love others? Do you fear that others may not love you if they knew of your inner most sexual desires and requirements? Scorpio is also about intense jealousy because it is about control vs a lack of control. Truly, Scorpio represents the part of us that is scared to lose control, so contrarily tries to take too much control of their surroundings. If you have these deep, intense fantasies surrounding love and sex, you may fear that your partner shares them also. And if they share them, does that risk them being unfaithful? Suspicion regarding what is taboo also plagues our Scorpio natives, though I ask of you all to use this Season to guide yourself like the angel of death towards your deepest darkest fears. Take a walk with yourself as you confront them. As they confront you. See through each and every rejection. Feel it deeply. Until it is no longer your worst fear. Let it hurt so much. Till it hurts no more.
I usually say that water signs represent the triad of childhood feelings. Pisces – The inner child, Cancer – The childhood home and Scorpio – The childhood. It is not uncommon for us to experience particularly heightened or chaotic emotions in our love lives during this time, so keep a journal to keep a track of what is coming up for you emotionally and also how you are dealing with it.
An analogy that I use when envisioning Scorpio, is a very controlling, yet attractive man who is terrified of his woman realising any perceived weakness inside of him and leaving him for somebody else. Although he is charming and sleek, he still fears that others will figure out a deep and dark secret about him and for this reason, he ties his lady to a leash. The lady represents Ophiuchus – what happens when the witch rises from the ashes. And doesn’t seek revenge, or redemption, but looks to be reborn. And we may see many of these themes playing out in our lives internally and externally during this time.
